Definition of "k89":
The K89 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone capsule created by Neumann. It is found in the U 89, TLM170, TLM193 and other mics.
According to Neumann, the capsule uses an aluminum backplate.
The capsule is unusual in that the diaphragms are not connected electrically to the amplifier circuit. Therefore, the K89 is neither edge-terminated (like the CK12) nor center-terminated (like the K67). Rather, the housing and diaphragms are at “ground potential,” and the capsule is terminated via the “inside back electrode.”

The K89… is not a capsule that in my opinion processes mid-frequency information in an emotionally engaging way.
