Cardioid Condenser Microphone

The SC-450 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone with switchable pad and filter, and a transformer-coupled output.

t.bone SC-450 CircuitThe circuit appears to be essentially identical to the MXL 2001/V67, albeit with pad and filter options. The circuit is a 2-stage FET design, the fundamentals of which were borrowed from the AKG C414 EB, although with negative feedback built in to provide some corrective equalization (high-frequency attenuation) to the signal from the capsule. The transformer is presumably a very low ratio, e.g. 2:1.

The capsule is a K67 style: dual backplate, center-terminated, with a characteristic high-frequency peak.

The published specifications are surprisingly different than the MXL 2001: 10 dBA self-noise (compared to 18 dBA for the 2001), and 23mV/Pa sensitivity (compared to 15mV/Pa).
