Supercardioid Dynamic Microphone

The TG-X 47 is an inexpensive dynamic instrument microphone that demands comparison to the Shure SM-57. It uses the same form factor and is intended for the same applications — namely, snare drum and guitar cab.

The mic’s dynamic capsule provides a supercardioid pickup pattern. This is more directional than the SM57’s cardioid pattern, and therefore this mic will be less prone to bleed from nearby sound sources.

Compared to the SM57, the TG-X 47 has an extended frequency response — on the low frequencies, the 47 is flat to 100Hz whereas the SM57 begins an aggressive roll-off at 150Hz. The 47’s high-frequency response is smoother, and the peak is higher — +13dB (!) at about 12kHz, as compared to the SM57’s +6dB @ 6kHz.

The TG-X 47 ships with a mic clamp (p/n MKV 8) and storage pouch.

The beyerdynamic TG-X 47 is also known as: TGX-47, TGX 47.
