Omnidirectionalbeyerdynamic MCE 58

Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone

The MCE 58 is a battery-powered electret condenser mic with an omnidirectional pickup pattern. It is intended for interview and broadcast use.

The only power option is the internal AA battery compartment; the mic will not run on phantom power.

The mic has a standard XLR3M jack, but the output is unbalanced. Beyerdynamic sells XLR3M-to-3.5mm stereo converter cables separately, for attaching the mic to handheld recorders (e.g. the Zoom H2) with an external mic jack.

The moving-coil cartridge is shockmounted to reduce handling noise. Further, the mic’s circuitry includes a filter to suppress LF noise and rumble.

The beyerdynamic MCE 58 is also known as: MCE58.
