Cardioid Condenser Microphone

The Superlux S125 is a handheld vocal microphone with a true condenser capsule.

The shockmounted cardioid capsule uses a 1/2-inch diaphragm.

The mic body is die-cast with steel grille. A triple layer wind screen (with no foam) prevents wind noise and reduces popping. Two switches on the microphone’s body enable optional pad (-10dB) and HPF (150Hz).

Frequency response is flat from 150Hz to 3kHz, with two presence peaks above.

Pro Audio Review - 2009
Ideal for lead vocals (if the vocal doesn’t sound thin to begin with), this bargain-priced mic would also shine on guitar amplifiers; reeded instruments such as saxophone; and some of the higher-pitched percussion instruments, such as bongos or high toms.

Worship Music Gear
I have personally put this microphone up against SM58s, Beta58s, SM87s, both Sennheiser dynamic and condenser mics, and a bunch of others. In each instance, I still chose my Superlux S125. If I had to make comparisons, I would put the S125 in the same playing field as the Shure KSM9 and the Neumann KMS 104. However, when comparing the $115 price tag on the S125 as opposed to the $600 to $900 price tags on the others, I think we’ve found a clear winner.
