Superlux R102 MKII
Bidirectional Active Ribbon Microphone
The Superlux R102 MKII is an active ribbon microphone. It is a modified R102, with the primary difference being the extended high-frequency response in the MK II.
Whereas the original R102 rolls off sharply above 5kHz, the Mk II has its -3dB point around 13kHz. The difference is in the design of the ribbon transducer; the Mk II’s electronics are identical to the original R102. In other words, the extended HF is not due to electronic equalization.
The body design for both microphones is the same, save that the Mk II uses a gold, rather than silver grille.
The R102 Mk II ships with the HM31 Shock mount, HM63 metal windscreen, aluminum case, a 6M mic cable, cloth pouch, and U-bracket mount.
