Cardioid Dynamic Microphone

The 5575LE is a Cardioid dynamic microphone intended for speech and vocal use. It was built as an homage to the original Shure Model 55, in celebration of that mic’s 75th anniversary. The “5575LE” name references the Model 55, its 75th anniversary, and the fact that this microphone was created as a Limited Edition.

The Shure “Model 55” was released in 1939. It represented a milestone in audio technology, for it was the first single-element unidirectional dynamic microphone in the world. It spawned a broad product line of familiar microphones, including the 55SH that is still manufactured today, albeit in the smaller 55S-series housing.

In 2014, Shure recreated toolings for the iconic Model 55 grille, to give the 5575LE the exact external appearance of the original. The mic’s internal structure was improved, and the 75-year-old dynamic cartridge was replaced with a Unidyne III cartridge, adapted from the wireless version of the SM58 cartridge. This gives the 5575LE superior reliability and sound quality to the original Model 55.

The 5575LE was announced in 2014, and began shipping in December of that year. Only 5575 pieces were made.

It ships with a die-cast zinc desk stand (p/n S36B), a right-angle XLR cable (1m length), an aluminum flight case with 75th Anniversary logo branding, and a certificate of authenticity.
