Shure

Founded in 1925 as a supplier of radio kits, Shure has grown in the intervening 80+ years to become one of the leading manufacturers of microphones and headphones in the world.

In 2009, Shure acquired Crowley and Tripp Microphones from Soundwave Research Laboratories, Inc., leading to Shure’s return to the ribbon microphone market. Two of Crowley and Tripp’s well-known ribbon microphones, the El Diablo and Naked Eye, have been rebadged as the KSM353 and KSM313 respectively. Both use the “acoustic nanofilm” ribbon material, aka Roswellite, developed by Soundwave Research.

In 2015, Shure introduced a new digital product line, called MOTIV, delivering 24-bit audio quality and the reliability for which the company is famous.

IN 2016, Shure reinvented the moving-coil capsule, with the “Dualdyne” KSM8 handheld dynamic microphone.
