Mods for the SYT-3000

    Upgrade the Cascade Elroy with an RK-47 or RK-12 capsule. The RK-47, based on the Neumann K47, provides a midrange-focused sound, with a present but not hyped high end. The RK-12, based on AKG’s CK-12, provides a brighter sound with a smoother high-frequency lift than the stock Elroy capsule.

    Dave Thomas can replace the 6J1 tube with a 6072a, and optionally replace the stock transformer. Coupled with circuitry changes, these changes yield more headroom and higher SPL. The stock capsule can be swapped for a dual-diaphragm Peluso model such as the CEK-367.

Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone

The SYT-3000 is a large-diaphragm tube mic. A pattern-selection switch on the front of the mic body offers cardioid, omni, and figure-of-8 pickup patterns. Two switches on the rear of the mic provide an attenuation pad and HPF.

We use triode wiring on specially selected low-noise pentode vacuum tube (6J1) to yield low noise and incredibly realistic dynamic response.

Internal shockmounting is claimed to make an external shockmount unnecessary; the SYT-3000 ships with a yoke mount.
