Sennheiser Electronics Corporation e 835
Cardioid Dynamic Microphone
The Sennheiser e 835 is a handheld dynamic microphone with cardioid polar pattern. It is an entry-level mic designed for lead vocal and general PA use.
The dynamic cartridge is shockmounted to reduce handling noise. The circuitry incorporates a humbucking coil, to reduce EMI/RFI (electromagnetic and radio frequency interference).
The e 835-S is also available, adding a silent on/off switch to the body.
Although nominally a Cardioid microphone, the e835 (like most Cardioid mics) tends toward an Omnidirectional polar pattern at low frequencies.
Sound On Sound 1998
The cardioid E 835s has a similar shaped body, but this time the basket has a flat top. The frequency response is rather wider than that of the E825s, at a quoted 40Hz to 16kHz, but it still has a solid sound that projects well. It’s also electrically more efficient than the E825s, producing a noticeably higher output for the same input.
The e800 series vocal microphones can be distinguished as follows:
- e815 (cardioid) - inexpensive mics for the consumer market
- e825 (cardioid) - entry-level mic for stage use
- e835 (cardioid) - best-selling vocal mic
- e838 (cardioid) - this is the e840 with a silver finish
- e840 (cardioid) - tuned for better projection on loud stages, improved feedback rejection; has 10-year warranty.
- e845 (supercardioid) - tighter pickup pattern for more feedback rejection is needed
According to Sennheiser, all these microphones share a basic moving-coil cartridge design, but differ in the size and shape of their diaphragms, the coil windings, damping elements, and resonators.
The Sennheiser Electronics Corporation e 835 is also known as: evolution 835, e835.
The mic was released in 1998.
