Sennheiser Electronics Corporation MKE 44-P
X/Y Stereo Condenser Microphone
The MKE 44-P is an XY stereo microphone, with two electret capsules and a 5-pin output connector. Designed for field and location use, it can be powered by phantom power (12V) or a single AA battery.
The two small-diaphragm back-electret condenser capsules are mounted in a fixed 90° array; the assembly is spring mounted to suppress handling noise.
The mic’s response is roughly flat from 300Hz–5000Hz. Below 300Hz, the response rolls off smoothly but steeply to a -3dB point at 150Hz (-6dB at 100Hz).
Despite the mic’s natural LF rolloff, a 3-position switch can be used to enable further attention below 150Hz or 250Hz.
Emusician - 2003
To its credit, the MKE 44P is a sleek, lightweight, stealthy little mic that nicely fits the hand and keeps a low profile. If Sennheiser were to firm up its bass response and tone down the piercing highs, it could be a contender.
The mic can be phantom or battery powered (1x1.5V AA). The mic terminates with 5-pin XLR-M. A 5-pin female to 2x 3-pin Male XLR adapter is included.
The Sennheiser Electronics Corporation MKE 44-P is also known as: MKE44P.
The mic was released in 2007.
