SupercardioidSennheiser Electronics Corporation ME 65

Supercardioid Condenser Microphone

The ME 65 is a detachable capsule head with a supercardioid electret design, intended for use with the modular K6 series. The mic was designed for vocal and speech applications.

The ME65’s frequency response plot shows gentle low frequency rolloff below 400Hz, approximately -6dB at 100Hz. A 6dB presence peak is centered at 6.5kHz.

The mic connects to the K6 or K6-P powering modules:

  • K 6 - transformerless, powered by either AAA batteries or phantom power.
  • K 6-P - transformerless, requires phantom power

Both head amplifier modules provide a switchable high-pass filter. Its cutoff frequency and slope are not defined, but appear to be -6dB/octave with a -3dB point at 250Hz. The amplifier circuit within both modules is flat (within 1dB) from 20Hz–25kHz.

The Sennheiser Electronics Corporation ME 65 is also known as: ME65.
