Cardioid Tube Condenser Microphone
The ICIS is a fixed-cardioid, large-diaphragm tube condenser mic with an integrated spider-type shockmount on the microphone body.
The capsule is a 27mm large-diaphragm design with an edge-terminated Mylar membrane. A dual-diaphragm version of this capsule is used in sE’s Z5600.
The tube is a 12AX7 / ECC83A type, socketed on the board for easy replacement or repair. (Circuit photo credit: SoundOnSound; see review link in sidebar)
SoundOnSound
A 12AX7 dual-triode valve is used for the preamp circuit in combination with low-noise Japanese components and high-quality glass-fibre circuit boards, so although the mic is designed to appeal to those who like the sound and the classic styling of retro tube mics, nobody needs to put up with classic noise, high cost, or poor spares availability. Unlike some so-called tube mics that use the tube mainly for cosmetic purposes, the circuitry here is all-tube, with a transformer-balanced output…
The ICIS was discontinued in 2010.
