RØDE Procaster
Cardioid Dynamic Microphone
The Procaster is a dynamic microphone designed for the broadcast market. It owes a design debt to Electro-Voice RE-20; both are end-address dynamics tailored for close-miked vocals.
The dynamic capsule is internally shockmounted to reduce mechanical rumble, and protected by a foam blast filter. The metal mesh endcap is removable, presumably so the foam filter can be cleaned.
The published frequency-response graph shows a sharp rolloff below 100Hz, but if this was measured at 1m (as is standard) it would not be a fair representation of the mic’s performance at normal working distances of 3–10 inches.
The Procaster ships with a metal ring mount and a storage pouch. Available separately are an elastic shockmount and a boom arm.
