Nady SCM-1000
Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The SCM-1000 is a large-diaphragm, multipattern FET condenser microphone. Like all Nady microphones, it is manufactured in China using off-the-shelf components, and has found to be internally similar to the Studio Projects C3 (although the C3 is claimed to have a different capsule).
The dual 3-micron diaphragms measure 1.1'' (28mm) in diameter. Capsule construction is brass. This is a “true condenser,” externally-biased design.
A switch on the mic body provides access to three polar patterns: cardioid, omni, figure-of-8. Additional switches provide a high-pass filter (the EQ curve it imparts is unspecified) and a -10dB pad.
The SCM-1000 is considered the top microphone in the SCM series.
The microphone ships in a soft case with a warranty of indeterminate length. Optional accessories include: foam windscreen (p/n FW-1/1000), spider shockmount (p/n SSM-3), aluminum flight case (p/n SMCC-2), dedicated 48V phantom power supply (only needed if your preamp does not supply phantom power, p/n SMPS-1).
We were able to find only one review of this microphone, and decided not to include it because 75% of the review text simply restated the specs, prior to concluding that it compares favorably to a Neumann U-87. [insert dismissive wave here]
The Nady SCM-1000 is also known as: SCM1000.
The mic was released in 2000.
