MXL Trophy
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
MXL Trophy is a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser with square body and lollipop style attached head.
The microphone head is designed to minimize reflections and standing waves. The 34mm capsule is an edge-terminated design, with 6-micron diaphragm material. As of the Trophy’s release and into 2012-Q1, this edge-terminated capsule has not been used in any other MXL microphone.
The circuitry is transformerless.
The frequency curve is contoured with wide boosts centered at 80 and 8,000 Hz. The polar pattern is wide-cardioid, nearly omnidirectional.
MXL recommends using the Trophy at a distance of 3-6 inches.
A nameplate on the front of the mic can be personalized.
The Trophy ships with a “ring” mount, polishing cloth, and a velvet-lined wooden storage case.
