MXL Revelation Stereo
X/Y Stereo Condenser Microphone
The Revelation Stereo is a dual-capsule, stereo version of MXL’s Revelation tube microphone. It was introduced at the Winter 2011 NAMM show, and will begin shipping in the summer of 2011.
Two large-diaphragm, center-terminated capsules are mounted in a fixed 90° array, producing an XY-stereo polar pattern.
As with the Revelation and the V89, the Stereo uses a “tuned grille cavity” intended to “reduce standing waves and harmonic distortion.” The grille is made of a single layer of heavy-gauge wire mesh.
The amplifier circuit employs a pair of Electro-Harmonix EF86 pentode tubes, said to be hand-selected for use in this microphone.
