MXL LSM-5GR
Cardioid Dynamic Microphone
The LSM-5GR is an inexpensive dynamic microphone designed for stage vocal and instrument use.
Although described as having a Cardioid pickup pattern, the published polar plot shows a Wide Cardioid pattern, without a distinct null at 180°. If the plot is to be believed, the mic’s rear rejection is less than is ideal.
The frequency response shows a smooth high-frequency boost above 1kHz, peaking at +9dB at 8kHz, then falling off quickly above 10Khz. The low frequency response is somewhat flatter, with a +6dB boost around 75Hz.
The mic has a steel mesh grille, and a large on/off switch on the microphone body.
