MXL CR77
Supercardioid Dynamic Microphone
The CR77 is a dynamic stage microphone built into a vintage, yoke-mount body, modeled to some degree after the RCA 77 DX ribbon microphone.
The capsule is a moving-coil dynamic type, shockmounted within the top half of the microphone body. It has a supercardioid pattern, with a small lobe of sensitivity at 180°; the nulls are at ±135°. The capsule is not borrowed from an existing catalog microphone, but developed newly for the CR77.
The mic has a built-in foam windscreen behind the metal-mesh grille, to reduce plosives and wind noise.
The mic ships with an aluminum flight case and a polishing cloth.
It was officially unveiled at Summer NAMM, 2013, with a MAP (minimum advertised price) of $169.
