Cardioid Tube Condenser Microphone

The MXL 9000 is a tube condenser microphone built for MXL’s “900 series,” sold exclusively by Guitar Center and its affiliated companies.

The mic has a fixed Cardioid polar pattern. There are no switchable features (such as pad or high-pass filter).

The capsule is a 32mm K67 style, with only one diaphragm metallized. It is visually identical to the capsule from MXL’s other LDC models, such as the 920, V63M, or 2006.

The tube is reportedly a 12AT7. It is mounted behind the single circuit board, with a retaining cap haphazardly glued to the transformer shield.

The mic’s circuit is relatively noisy compared to modern microphones, at 22dBA.

The mic ships with its dedicated power supply, a 15-foot 7-pin cable, and a 15-foot 3-pin XLR cable.
