CardioidCAD Audio ICM417

Cardioid Pencil Condenser Microphone

The CAD ICM417 is a small diaphragm electret condenser with a short, rounded body design. It uses an electret condenser capsule with a fairly high self-noise rating of 26dBA.

The frequency response rolls off slowly from 200Hz, flattens up to 2kHz where it begins to rise, peaking about 7dB at 8kHz.

The included rubber mount helps isolate the mic from vibration and mechanical noise.

The overheads also turned in what I felt was a good performance, with not too much low end to conflict with the close mics. They delivered a tight, well-focused sound that accentuated the cymbals, and they didn’t seem to allow too much of the room sound to intrude. In combination with the close mics they worked rather well.

The ICM417 is sold as part of CAD’s PMP632C Six-piece Percussion Microphone Pack.

The CAD Audio ICM417 is also known as: ICM-417.
