CAD Audio E300S
Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The E300S is a revised version of CAD’s E300 microphone. The new version is intended to sound the same as the E3002.
The E300S has the same capsule and circuit design as the older version of the microphone. Like the earlier version, it uses a pair of 9V nickel metal hydride batteries to power the circuit; phantom power, when available, is used to recharge the batteries.
The microphone’s behavior is configured via four switches on the front of the body:
- Pad: flat or -20dB
- HPF: flat or -6dB/octave @ 135Hz
- Polar pattern: Cardioid, Omni, or Figure-8
- Power: on/off
The capsule is a large-diaphragm true condenser. The photos we’ve seen show the characteristic backplates of the K67. According to measurements submitted by an E300S owner, the capsule’s outside diameter is 33.6mm; the suspended area of the diaphragm has a diameter of 26.3mm.
According to CAD, the impedance conversion circuitry is linear with respect to frequency response; there is no fixed EQ within the circuitry.
See the E300v2 profile for full specifications.

The mic was released in 2012.
