Cardioid Pencil Condenser Microphone

The CAD CM217 is a small diaphragm cardioid pencil condenser, intended for stage use on drum overheads.

Two switches on the mic’s body enable a pad (-10dB) and a high-pass filter (200Hz).

The frequency response appears flat from 150Hz to 5kHz. A presence peak appears around 7kHz. High frequency pickup beyond 10kHz is poor.

The C9 is available as part of CAD’s 7-piece “touring” mic bundle, the DMTP7.
