Byetone

Byetone was a Russian microphone company whose products were carried in the US by the Sound Room through 2003. According to the old Oktava.com website,

Byetone is widely known in Eastern and Central Europe for an excellent series of dynamic microphones that move easily from the live stage to the studio. Don’t let the price tag fool you. These mics are serious acoustic tools. Even though they may look like mics you have seen and heard before, a glance at the frequency specs and a brief listen to their performance tells you that these are serious performers.

We are especially happy with their supercardioid and cardioid mics for stage use — clear, clean and with a proximity effect to die for. They also have frequency responses reminiscent of the best German manufacturers, with a tight pattern that really rejects ambience and monitor “slosh”.
