CardioidAudix D6

Cardioid Dynamic Microphone

The D6 is a cardioid dynamic microphone intended for use on kick drum and bass cabinet. It has an aggressively tailored frequency response, with a “scooped-mids” curve that shows 15dB of attenuation:

  • There is a peak from 35Hz-80Hz.
  • Frequencies from 90Hz-600Hz are attenuated to reduce boominess.
  • Another peak above 1000Hz gives clarity and definition.

MixForget EQ. You don’t need it.

Reviews of the D6 are uniformly positive; Audix has secured testimonials from Pro Audio Review, Modern Drummer, MIX, Gig Magazine, and engineers for Bonnie Raitt, Pearl Jam, Blue Man Group, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

As with Audix’s D2 and D4 mics, the D6 body narrows to a 21.5mm barrel to fit the Audix MC2 mic clip.

Available in black anodized or silver/nickel (model D6-SILVER).

Audix D-series mics are made in the USA.

The D6 won a Reader’s Choice award from ProSoundWeb in 2010.

The Audix D6 is also known as: D-6.

The mic was released in 2002.
