Cardioid Pencil Condenser Microphone

The Audix ADX51 is a cardioid pencil condenser using a 14mm back-electret capsule.

The published frequency response describes a very bright microphone, with a low-frequency -3dB point at 200Hz and a generally rolled-off response below 1kHz. There is a +6dB peak at 9kHz.

The microphone’s polar pattern is described as Cardioid, but the published graphs show the mic tending toward Omnidirectional below 500Hz, with only ~7dB rear rejection at 125Hz. At higher frequencies, the pattern tightens up somewhat, but retains the characteristic rear lobe of a Supercardioid pattern.

Switches on the mic body enable the optional -10dB pad and high-pass filter (@ 150Hz).

The Audix ADX51 is also known as: ADX-51.
