Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone

The CM-47 is a multipattern tube mic based on the 6072 tube and a BV8-style output transformer.

Advanced Audio has offered multiple capsules in this microphone since its launch. As of 2012, the baseline CM-47 uses the company’s AK-67, a copy of the Neumann K67 capsule found in the U67 and U87. The CM-47SE uses the 32mm AK47, which is a smaller-diameter copy of the K47 used in the U47. The Peluso CEK-367 has reportedly also been used.

Advanced Audio also modifies the amplifier circuit to provide more headroom than in the original U-47, with better transient response, by implementing a “cathode-follower” design. The transformer is a Chinese-manufactured copy of the Neumann BV8.

Like the U-47/U-48, the CM-47 is a multipattern microphone. Whereas the U47/U48 offered only two patterns, the CM-47 can be switched among 9 selectable patterns, via a rotary switch on the remote power supply.

The mic ships in a road case with power supply, cable, and shockmount.

The Advanced Audio Microphones CM-47 is also known as: CM47.

The mic was released in 2007.
