Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone

The Z-12 is ADK’s modern take on the famous and rare C-12, a mic known for its brilliance and clarity. The company says this is their most mid-boosted and detailed microphone in the Z MOD range, with a boost around 5kHz (contrast this with the 15kHz boost of the Z-251). The focused and detailed midrange is intended to bring vocals to the front in a dense mix and shines in rock, pop and hip-hop applications, as well as in use on fretted instruments and as overheads, especially in a darker recording space.

The Z-12 utilizes an English Sowter transformer, although ADK offers to custom build this mic with alternative transformers from Lundahl, Lehle, or Jensen.

The Z-12 is finished in a “ruby red” powder coat.

A variety of tubes is included with the Z-12, allowing users to further refine the sound, distortion characteristics and vibe for the project at hand.

Each Z MOD microphone ships with the following:

  • American-made tweed flight case

  • American chrome and powder-coat chassis

  • Hand-crafted in USA electronics assembly

  • American hardwood velvet-lined microphone case

  • Heavy-duty ring-shock combination suspension mount

  • Heavy-duty low-profile ring mount (hard-mount)

  • Metal pop-filter (with goose-neck and clamp)

  • Switchable 115/230v power supply with 9 polar patterns

  • 16-foot USA made Accusound Silver-Pro 7-pin tube microphone XLR Cable

  • 16-foot USA made Accusound Silver-Pro 3-pin microphone XLR cable

  • Spare elastics for shock mount

  • Extra low-noise valve/tube sampler pack for fine-tuning mic characteristics
